Pirate Cove, Port ElliotPosted by Michael Davies (Adelaide, Australia) on 3 November 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. On the south coast of South Australia lies Port Elliot, a quaint country town growing rapidly in popularity as a holiday destination. This shot was taken from what is colloquially known as "Pirate Cove" - a small inlet walking distance from the main street. It has a nice sheltered beach, but the ferosity of the incoming waves makes it unsuitable for swimming. In the distance you can see the town of Victor Harbor and the local landmark, Rosetta Head - known as The Bluff to the locals. What is particularly pleasant about this location is the abundance of wild flowers growing amongst the rocks - they survive only as a result of the sea spray from the crashing waves. Great photographic opportunities abound here! All images Copyright © 2007, 2008, 2009. All Rights Reserved. Please use the above email address for inquiries regarding image licensing.
